MYTILINEOS undertakes the construction of Protos, a global-reach project in Great Britain.
The assignment to a joint venture led by MYTILINEOS of the Protos Energy Recovery Facility project in the UK, serves as a strong demonstration of the company’s ability to undertake complex EPC projects of high technical requirements, even in the most advanced and competitive markets. Through its Sustainable Engineering Solutions Business Unit (SES BU), MYTILINEOS is acknowledged internationally for the innovative and competitive solutions it provides in liquid and solid waste management. At the same time, it is established on a global scale as a company that offers a broad range of environmental solutions.
The plant is located in Cheshire, England, United Kingdom and has a total, annual capacity of 400,000 tons of non-recyclable waste, with 2 lines of waste-deriving energy recovery with annual capacity of 200,000 tons each. The Protos EfW – Energy from Waste facility will be processing 2 types of waste, Residual fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Commercial & Industrial Waste (C&I).
The Protos Energy from Waste facility is a project of high technical requirements in a highly competitive market. The Sustainable Engineering Solutions Business Unit of MYTILINEOS will provide the integrated management of all construction stages (EPC) of the project and in order to ensure the facility’s sustainable reliable operation the critical equipment shall be duplicated. The facility is scheduled to enter to commercial operation in 2024.
MYTILINEOS is the leader of the prestigious joint venture with Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH (SBG), world’s leading EfW technology provider, holding a 55% share and is assigned as the Principal Contractor and Principal Designer of the project.
MYTILINEOS is internationally recognized as one of the most competitive constructors globally for highly demanding, large-scale sustainable waste management projects, trusted by key international groups such as Covanta, Biffa and Green Investment Group.
Several power plant projects have been completed around the world and others are currently under construction in Europe and Africa.
Energy Recovery facilities (also referred to as Energy-from-Waste) provide a safe technologically advanced means of waste treatment that reduces waste being sent to landfills while generating clean energy from the process. Ash is processed to recover ferrous and non-ferrous metals for recycling while all gases are collected, filtered and cleaned before being released safely into the atmosphere.
Covanta, Biffa and Green Energy Investment Group recognize the importance of being part of the wider community and have established a community engagement plan that will have positive impacts on our neighbors.
MYTILINEOS Energy&Metals undertakes the development of an open-cycle gas turbine (OCGT) power plant project in Immingham of North Lincolnshire in the United Kingdom, for VPI Immingham -B LLP (VPI-B), a non-consolidated group entity of Vitol .
