METLEN Energy & Metals undertook an important sponsorship by covering the entire cost and implementation of the renovation of the 7th Cadet Company Building at Hellenic Military Academy. The inauguration ceremony, which took place on November 1st at the Academy, was attended by the Chairman and CEO of METLEN Energy & Metals, Evangelos Mytilineos, marking the celebration of the project’s completion. The initiative aims to improve the daily life of the future leaders of the Armed Forces.
ELEMKA, a 100% subsidiary of METKA, successfully completed the project, which included a comprehensive renovation of a three-level building with a total area of 2,500 m². Specifically, the project involved the refurbishment of the dormitories (108 cadet beds) and common areas, as well as the energy upgrade of the building (new frames, new roof insulation, a new LED lighting system, and the replacement of heating units).
The significance of the donation was further highlighted by the announcement of an honorary title. President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, awarded the title of Brigadier General to Evangelos Mytilineos. Additionally, Mr. Mytilineos was honored with a Statuette of a Cadet in full uniform, accompanied by a ceremonial sword carried by the cadets, presented by the Commandant of the Hellenic Military Academy, Lieutenant General Anastasios Polychronos.
The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, praised Mr. Mytilineos as a successor to the tradition of benefactors who have contributed to the nation. “METLEN’s donation is an act of strengthening the Armed Forces and ultimately the national defense of our homeland,” Mr. Dendias noted.
Mr. Mytilineos stated, “The Hellenic Military Academy symbolizes dedication, integrity, and leadership, and this project aligns with the philosophy of supporting the youth while creating an environment that demonstrates respect and gratitude to the cadets. The Armed Forces are a cornerstone of the country’s security and independence. The support and recognition of society towards the cadets and their mission are of paramount importance.” He also added, “The principles and values of the Armed Forces and successful companies, such as hierarchy, discipline, and teamwork, are shared. Leadership is not just about making decisions but also empowering the team to achieve a common vision. Success depends on contributing to a shared goal, whether in defending the homeland or growing a business. Former military personnel often excel in the corporate sector due to their strategic thinking and ability to make quick decisions.”
